In the 1960’s the building now known as The Stage at Island Park began to take shape, being built in a style similar to the Guthrie Theatre in Minneapolis, with a thrust stage and three-fourths theatre-in–the round effect.
The theatre was built with support from the local Unions and the Fargo Park District. No capital funds contributed to The Stage's construction, just fellow community members working toward the common goal of creating a facility for theatre to grow and prosper.
For many years FMCT had an open-air gazebo. In 2011, the Burgum family gifted funds to build the Katherine Kilbourne Burgum pavilion. This additional space is not only beautiful as you look into Island Park but it provides additional space for groups to gather prior to a performance, additional space for rehearsals or a lovely space for a small wedding.
